Canadian Singer-Songwriter Gordon Lightfoot Comes to Ovens Auditorium Image

Ovens Auditorium will host Gordon Lightfoot on August 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, at all Ticketmaster outlets or at the Bojangles' Coliseum Box Office located at 2700 E. Independence Blvd. Tickets cost between $54 and $84 (plus applicable service charges).

Esteemed singer-songwriter and musician Gordon Lightfoot stands with some very exclusive company atop the list of all-time greats. His song catalog includes such immortals as "Early Morning Rain," "If You Could Read My Mind," "Carefree Highway," "Sundown," "(That's What You Get) For Lovin' Me," "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald," "Canadian Railroad Trilogy," "Ribbon Of Darkness," "Beautiful," "Song For A Winter's Night" and "Rainy Day People" to name a few.

His cross-country USA tour entitled "Gordon Lightfoot In Concert: The Legend Lives On" will feature his well-known hits and some deep album cuts, woven together with behind the scenes stories and personal anecdotes about his historic 50-year musical career.

2017 marked the 50th anniversary of Lightfoot's classic album: The Way I Feel, with two of his first big radio hits,"Song For A Winter's Night" and "Canadian Railroad Trilogy.' Since then, his compositions have achieved phenomenal Radio Singles Chart Positions: Five No. 1s, Five Top 10s and Thirteen Top 40 hits. Many continue to receive radio airplay today.

Lightfoot has also had his songs recorded by other great artists including: Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Jr., Marty Robbins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Judy Collins, Johnny Mathis, Anne Murray, Olivia Newton-John, Sarah McLachlan, Barbra Streisand, Peter Paul & Mary, Harry Belafonte, Jane's Addiction, Glen Campbell, Toby Keith and others.

Other stars in his world who have sung his praises include Bob Dylan who laments, "Every time I hear a song of his, I wish it would last forever."
