CPCC Dance Theatre to Present Bach’s Christmas Oratorio 12/9-11
This holiday season, CPCC Dance Theatre will perform Bach's Christmas Oratorio. The performance will mark the 50th anniversary of American modern dance pioneer Charles Weidman's first performance of this moving piece that tells the story of Christmas in a fresh and exciting way.
Weidman first composed his interpretation of Bach's original Christmas Oratorio in 1961. While Weidman's piece remains virtually unknown in today's dance world, it is recognized for its wide use of abstract group dances, solos, trios and representational pantomime.Directed by MaryAnn Mee, the evening's production will feature performances by CPCC Dance Theatre students, and a host of professional dancers, including Anne Marie Loesch, Norma Poplin-Kelly and Clay Daniel.
