The Freddy Awards to Receive Financial Support from PPL Electric Utilities.

The FREDDY© Awards, which give the Lehigh Valley's high school musical performers time in the spotlight, will receive financial support from PPL Electric Utilities.

PPL has donated $5,000 to the State Theatre's 2017 FREDDY© Awards as part of the Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit program.

"PPL is committed to supporting organizations such as the State Theatre that are doing so much to help foster creativity among the youth," said Carol Obando-Derstine, regional affairs director for PPL Electric Utilities. "We applaud their efforts in helping these students grow into the creative workforce of tomorrow."

PPL is also a sponsor of the 2017 Dancing with the Lehigh Valley Stars.

The State Theatre Center for the Arts FREDDY© Awards program recognizes and rewards accomplishment in local high school musicals in Lehigh & Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania and Warren County, New Jersey. Since 2003, the program has served over 40,000 students and helped generate nearly $800,000 in scholarship and community grants. Celebrating its 15th Anniversary, the FREDDY© Awards Ceremony will be broadcast live on 69 WFMZ on Thursday, May 25th, 7 PM.

The EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) has benefited the non-profit State Theatre's FREDDY© Awards program since it was approved as an Educational Improvement Organization by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development in 2014.Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit program offers tax credits to eligible businesses contributing to a Scholarship Organization, an Educational Improvement Organization, and/or a Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organization.
