Laura Osnes To Host Master Class, Headline Community Theatre Benefit

The Community Theatre League, Williamsport's leading community theatre, is proud to announce their second annual "Evening with a Star" fundraising concert and master class, starring Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Laura Osnes on July 14, 2018 at 7:30pm.

Laura Osnes most recently completed a starring run in the Tony Award winning Broadway musical Bandstand (Drama Desk, Drama League nominations). Other Broadway: Cinderella in Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella (Drama Desk Award; Tony, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, Astaire nominations), Bonnie Parker in Bonnie and Clyde (Tony Award nomination), after creating the role at Asolo Repertory Theatre and La Jolla Playhouse (San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award), Hope Harcourt in the Tony Award winning revival of Anything Goes (Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Astaire Award nominations), Nellie Forbush in Lincoln Center Theater's production of South Pacific, and Sandy in the most recent revival of Grease. On television, she has been seen on the CBS series "Elementary", in the HBO pilot "The Miraculous Year", Sondheim: The Birthday Concert at Avery Fisher Hall, HBO's documentary Six By Sondheim, and the Kennedy Center Honors salutes to Barbara Cook (2011) and Dustin Hoffman (2012). Her many concerts and cabarets include performing with Michael Feinstein, the New York Philharmonic, The New York Pops, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, The Boston Pops, The San Francisco Symphony, The National Symphony Orchestra, as well as appearing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, The Café Carlyle, 54 Below, Lincoln Center, NJPAC, The Smith Center in Las Vegas, and MN Orchestra Hall. In addition to being heard on several cast recordings, Laura has two solo albums, Dream A Little Dream: Live at The Café Carlyle and If I Tell You: The Songs of Maury Yeston.

In addition to the concert, Miss Osnes will also host a Broadway Master Class at 12:00 pm on July 14th. This Master Class is an opportunity for artists of all ages to observe Miss Ones working with select participants, learning the techniques, tips, and tricks of a Broadway performer, focused on auditioning and storytelling, and hearing personal stories from her life. A limited number of tickets are also available for a post-concert Meet & Greet.

In 2017, The Community Theatre League hosted Stephanie J. Block for their first "Evening with a Star." This fundraising concert is a chance for many people to get and up-close and personal experience with one of Broadway's biggest stars. And in CTL's 167-seat thrust-stage theatre, it's an intimate and relaxed environment, without the hassle of traveling to New York City.

The Community Theatre League, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is Williamsport's premiere community theatre. Founded in 1976 with the vision of creating a true community-driven organization focused on making, promoting and supporting the performing arts, The Community Theatre League has presented over 200 Mainstage productions. CTL regularly produces 10-12 plays or musicals throughout the year, as well as special concert events and the Sprouts theatre for children. CTL also holds a variety of summer camps for students of all ages, organizes the annual Ray of Light Awards for high school music theatre and drama programs, and is the home of the Community Academy of Stage and Theatre.
