Elizabethtown College Theatre to Present Liz Lochhead's Adaptation of MEDEA Image

Elizabethtown College Theatre presents an adaption of "Medea" Thursday, Nov. 2, through Sunday, Nov. 12, in Tempest Theatre.

In "Medea," originally by the ancient Greek tragedian Euripides, the titular character attacks her own children in vengeance against Jason, her ex-husband.

This adaption of "Medea" comes from Scottish playwright Liz Lochhead. According to Scottish news outlet "The Scotsman," Lochhead's feminist interpretation of Medea's character "is the kind of interpretation-brave, visionary, risky-that blows a well-known text apart and reassembles it in a completely new light." The "contemporary Scottish flavor" of Lochhead's adaption is another aspect praised by "The Scotsman."

"Medea" takes the stage at 8 p.m. Nov. 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10, and at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 and 12. Tickets are $7 and can be reserved by calling 717-361-1170 or emailing boxoffice@etown.edu.

Elizabethtown College, located in historic Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is a private coed institution offering more than four dozen liberal arts, fine and performing arts, science and engineering, business, communications and education degrees. Learn more at www.etown.edu/about.
