Dallastown Students Take The French Revolution By Storm As They Stage LES MISERABLES Image

Students from Dallastown Area School District are studying the history of France in a unique way - with a production of Les Misérables, the Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon April 11, 12, and 13 at 7pm, and April 13 and 14 at 2pm.

Senior Hannah Major knows that Dallastown's musical reputation precedes itself. Although Hannah was a technical dancer the past three Dallastown musicals, this year she is excited to be part of the cast. Hannah shares, "The great part about the Dallastown productions is that not only do we have talented leads, but we also have a talented ensemble." Hannah says that even the performers with single lines and supporting roles have ability, "and that's what always makes our productions special to be a part of!"

This epic story of Les Misérables recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes an honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in love with Valjean's adopted daughter, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.

Dallastown Area School District at 700 New School Lane, Dallastown, PA will present Les Misérables on April 11, 12, and 13 at 7pm, and April 13 and 14 at 2pm. Tickets are on sale now for $12 and may be purchased by clicking the link at the bottom of the home page at dallastown.net.
