Parade, the Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and book by Alfred Uhry, closes Blackfriars Theatre's 76th season with performances May 8–24. Set in 1913 Marietta, Georgia, the show follows Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager accused of murdering a teenaged girl, and his wife Lucille, who fights tirelessly for his freedom amid false testimony, media sensationalism, and racial tension. Jordan Bachmann plays Leo Frank and Abby Rice plays Lucille Frank, with the production directed by Danny Hoskins, choreography by Hector Manuel, and musical direction by Andy Pratt. The story's exploration of bigotry, injustice, and a nation at odds with its own ideals remains as relevant today as it was at the time of the historical trial.
