SINGLE GIRLS GUIDE at Capital Repertory Theatre Will Be Helmed By Gordon Greenberg
Gordon Greenberg, director of WORKING, Jacques Brel and the acclaimed national tour of GUYS AND DOLLS, is about to launch a world premiere musical, SINGLE GIRLS GUIDE, at Albany's Capital Repertory Theatre.
This Single Girls is described as the fun and fizzy story of Emma, a spirited newspaper columnist in 1966 Manhattan who wants more out of life. Her plans to get it by dishing out advice and serving up her own brand of love to men and women.
Preview performances start March 1, with official opening on March 5 and a run that continues through March 30.
Development of Single Girls Guide came to a critical head on March 2011 with a standing-room-only reading at Ars Nova attended by Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill, Jeffrey Seller, Jill Furman, Mike Isaacson, Steven Schwartz, Gary Marshall and Gordon mentor, Larry Hirschhorn.
Says Mancinelli-Cahill: "The concoction made me smile. I love literature and grew up with the headlines and rising hemlines of the 60s. They were talking my language. That was two years ago with lots of re-writes, feedback and public readings in between. Seeing this delightful show come to life on our stage now is a great thrill."
Tickets for SINGLE GIRLS GUIDE range from $16 (students) to $70. For tickets and information, call TICKETS BY PROCTORS at (518) 445-SHOW (7469) or online at www.capitalrep.org.
