Rochester Community Players Announces 2011-2012 Season

By:

The Rochester Community Players has announced its 88th Season. Four productions are planned for this year, three indoor performances at MuCCC and our annual free Shakespeare at the Highland Park Bowl.

The season opens with The Merchant of Venice, by William Shakespeare. This lively and controversial production will be performed over four weekends, October 28 thru November 19, at MuCCC, 142 Atlantic Avenue. John Jaeger is directing this production, and veteran RCP actor Raymond Salah will be appearing as Shylock.

RCP's Shakespeare Players program is adding a second indoor production in the springtime. The intent of the program is to stage Shakespeare plays which are less frequently performed during this Spring time slot. In March 2012, we will be staging Timon of Athens at MuCCC March 16-31, to be directed by James Landers.

Our annual Irish Players production will be Long Day's Journey Into Night, by Eugene O'Neill, to be performed at MuCCC April 13-28. Jean Ryon will direct the play. This production will be presented at the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival in Dublin, Ireland on May 19, 2012. This will be RCP's first time in its 88 year history that we will be staging a production outside of North America.

Our 17th annual free Shakespeare at the Highland Park Bowl production will be Richard III, to be presented July 6-21, 2012. PatRick White, the Chair of our Shakespeare Players Committee, will direct the production.
