Kristin Piacentile is currently starring as Janis Joplin in A Night with Janis Joplin at Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, NY, where she portrays the legendary singer for three performances per week. Kristin is the alternate for Kelly McIntyre (who played the title role in the musical's national tour). A Night with Janis Joplin is scheduled to run through August 7.

Previously, Kristin performed the role of Janis Joplin to wide acclaim at the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle.

Kristin has performed in the new musicals ZM: A Zombie Musical at The Eugene O'Neill Theater (by the authors of Urinetown) and Home Street Home at The Eugene O'Neill Theater and Z Space in San Francisco (by Tony winner Jeff Marx, Goddess Soma and NOFX's Fat Mike). She also frequently performs with Sky-Pony, the band lead by Tony-nominee Lauren Worsham.

Born in Manhattan, Kristin grew up in the tri-state area and discovered her passion for performing at a young age. She attended Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. After being accepted into the CAP21 Conservatory, Kristin expanded her interests and studied Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and Film and TV acting at Stonestreet Studios.

"I have always loved Janis Joplin, the entertainer, and to get to play the woman behind the persona has been life changing," said Kristin Piacentile. "Janis stood on the shoulders of the women who came before her and I play this role as a celebration of female empowerment."

A Night with Janis Joplin has delighted critics and inspired audiences across the country with such classic songs as "Summertime," "Piece of My Heart," "Cry Baby," and "Me and Bobby McGee." Her unmistakable voice, filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort, made her a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock. A Night with Janis Joplin is a musical journey celebrating Janis and her biggest musical influences - trailblazers like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith - who inspired one of Rock 'n' Roll's greatest legends.

A Night with Janis Joplin is conceived, written and directed by RAndy Johnson.

Also featured in A Night with Janis Joplin are DaNyel Fulton (Blues Singer), JAnnie Jones (Chantel, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone), Nikita R. Jones (Chantel, Bessie Smith, Odetta), and Kimberly Ann Steele (Chantel, Etta James). A Night with Janis Joplin features a scenic design by Brian Prather, lighting design by Ryan O'Gara, sound design by Tony Angelini, projections by Derek Smith, wig & hair design by Leah J. Loukas, and music direction by Todd Olsen. Grady McLeod Bowman is Associate Director.
