Cortland Repertory Theatre to Present SWEET, SINATRA...AND ALL THAT JAZZ

By:
Cortland Repertory Theatre is turning their new downtown performing arts venue into a swank and swinging nightclub to celebrate Valentine's Day with Sweet, Sinatra...And All That Jazz, to be held on Saturday night, February 13th. New York City crooner and CRT star Marcus Goldhaber and his jazz musicians, The In Time Band will provide an evening of live, smooth jazz music, and a dance floor will be available for those couples who would like to cut a rug. Also include in the ticket price is an elegant dessert buffet, with delicacies created by local dessert artist Mary Turturro of "Mary's Cakes". Complimentary non-alcoholic punch will be available, along with a cash bar with wine from Americana Vineyards and beer from Bacchus Brewing Inc. Seating is reserved, and will be arranged cabaret style at small four-person tables. Singles or couples, families or groups of friends are invited; all are welcome to sit and enjoy the sweets and music, or show their dancing skills on the dance floor. Tickets are currently on sale and are $35.00 per person. Doors will open at 7:30.

A Buffalo native and current NYC resident, Marcus Goldhaber has appeared frequently on the CRT stage in such musicals as The 1940's Radio Hour, The Pajama Game, My Way: The Music of Frank Sinatra and I Left My Heart: A Tribute to Tony Bennett along with the comedies Over the River and Through the Woods and Leading Ladies. A remarkably talented crooner, Goldhaber and his band mates - Jon Davis (piano and musical director), Martin Wind (bass) and Marcello Pellitteri (drums) - have performed in some of NYC's most famous nightclubs, such as 54 Below, The Blue Note, Birdland, The Metropolitan Room, and The Cutting Room. He's sung at prestigious clubs and concert halls from Las Vegas to Miami, and has shared the stage with the likes of the legendary Les Paul, Billy Stritch, Vince Giordano, and Bono. He has recorded three solo albums, his latest - "A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening" - spotlighting not only his artistic breadth as a jazz interpreter, but also his skills as a wistful composer and lyricist of modern standards. His unique jazz stylings have been called "exciting, fresh and imaginative". In fact, one nightclub reviewer said he is "reminiscent of a young Frank Sinatra".

Tickets for "Sweets, Sinatra...And All That Jazz" are currently on sale by calling 800-427-6160, or online at www.cortlandrep.org, or by visiting CRT Downtown, 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland. Box Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 9:00 - 4:00.
