Chenango River Theatre Presents PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES, 8/23-9/16

By:

The theatre that brought you The Marvelous Wonderettes and Breaking Up Is Hard To Do continues the tradition of feel-good musicals with Pump Boys and Dinettes (Co-Produced by NBT Bank and Raymond Corporation).

The Pump Boys flirt and sell high octane at their gas station, and the Dinettes laugh and serve apple pie at the diner next door.  Together they fashion an evening of music that received raves on and off Broadway, with the actors performing their music with guitars, piano, bass and even kitchen utensils.

It’s a rousing, down-home mix of blues, country western and rock ‘n’ roll, in a charming tale of friendship, romance and heartbreak.  The hummable, original songs include Be Good or Be Gone, Tips and The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine.

If musicals were born expressing American optimism, that optimism abounds in Pump Boys and Dinettes, a play that rocks like your granddaddy's front-porch recliner.  This musical is a foot-stomping good time that will make you want to order a big slice of cherry pie and a second cup of coffee before you hit the road in search of life's simple pleasures.

Tickets are selling fast, and four shows are already sold out:  Thursday Aug. 23, Sunday Aug. 26, Thursday Aug. 30 and Thursday Sept. 6.
