CRT Downtown Presents Stand-up Comedy With Moody McCarthy

Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown presents an evening of hysterical standup comedy with the Cortland premiere performance of professional New York City comedian Moody McCarthy. This fantastic night of stand up comedy will be held at CRT Downtown, 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland on Friday, October 19 at 7:30 PM.

Moody has had audiences double-over with laughter in his appearances on Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with David Letterman and America's Got Talent. He was born "Matthew" in Syracuse, into a rambunctious household with six siblings. Because they are Irish, everyone got a nickname, and his stuck with him into his professional career. He began doing comedy in 1992 by writing jokes and covering sports for Syracuse's #1 radio stations WYYY and WTKW. After six years of performing regionally Moody decided his apartment was too big and moved to New York City, where he now lives with his wife, two daughters, and a Betta fish they rescued from a pet store.

Moody's material is described as original but universal, and smart without being trite. Audiences love him because of his disarming stage presence and spontaneous impromptu humor and he's also earned the admiration of his peers for his ability to "go up cold" and turn any setting into a lively comedy room. With humor touting the allure of women with raspy voices, the joys of time zones, and the perks of being an uncle, this rated "PG-Adult" show is full of laughs for all tastes.
