South Mountain YMCA Creative Drama

Creative Theater Day Camp is a three-week theatre day camp operated by the South Mountain YMCA, a branch of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges, and held at First Presbyterian and Trinity Church on Irvington Avenue in South Orange, New Jersey. It serves campers entering kindergarten through eighth grade, grouped into four levels by grade. Campers work as both cast and crew, rehearsing and preparing full productions while learning singing, choreography, set, prop and costume design, puppetry and writing. Trained counselors guide the entire production from start to finish, and the camp emphasizes the process rather than the product, focusing on fun, friendship and building self-esteem. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with optional aftercare until 6:00 pm, across three sessions from late June through late August. Financial assistance is available.

Monday-Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm with aftercare 3:30-6:00 pm for an additional fee. Groups are Creative Theatre 1 (entering K-1st), 2 (entering 2nd-3rd), 3 (entering 4th-5th) and 4 (entering 6th-8th). Swim days Monday and Wednesday for T1 and T2. Director: Gail Green. Financial assistance available; $35 change fee after February 1.
