Camp Shakespeare in Kentucky

Camp Shakespeare is the summer day camp program of Kentucky Shakespeare, a nonprofit professional theatre company in Louisville. It creates opportunities for children and young adults ages 5-18 to explore the theatre arts through imaginative play, visual arts, movement, storytelling, language and text analysis. Camps are divided by age into five tracks: The Groundlings (5-6), The Noblings (7-10), The Revelers (11-14), The Mechanicals (15-18) and the audition-based, five-week Globe Players professional training program, which culminates in a full production on the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater stage. Sessions run 9am-4pm weekdays at Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School, and each concludes with a final performance in Louisville's Central Park.

Camps run 9am-4pm, Monday through Friday, with the main campus at Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School in downtown Louisville. Final performances take place in Central Park on the evening of the last day of each session. Enrollment caps range from 10 to 15 campers per age group. The Globe Players program requires an audition and acceptance, and rehearses at the Kentucky Shakespeare Rehearsal Hall at 616 Myrtle St. and Central Park. Scholarships are available.
