Theatre summer camp in New Milford, CT
Buck's Rock is a nonprofit residential arts camp on 56 wooded acres in New Milford, Connecticut, serving campers ages 11 to 16 who are going into grades 6 through 11. The camp is built on a freedom-of-choice, non-competitive model: campers choose their own visual and performing arts projects each day rather than following an assigned schedule. Working artists and teachers staff more than 30 fully equipped shops covering disciplines such as ceramics, glassblowing, weaving, dance, improv and lighting design, alongside a swimming pool, farm and performance spaces. Sessions run four, six or eight weeks, with a CIT program for older participants. Buck's Rock operates a six-tier sliding-scale tuition system based on household size and income, with the lowest tier charging no tuition. The camp is a 501(c)(3) organization and is accredited by the American Camp Association.
Tuition is set on a six-tier sliding scale based on household size and adjusted gross combined annual income; Tier 6 families pay $0 tuition with a refundable $309 deposit. CITs receive a 3.5% to 7% discount. Tuition includes room and board, all shop materials, weekly laundry, all camp trips, evening activities and 24/7 infirmary care.
