Broadway Bound Kids

Spend the summer belting it out, exploring entertaining characters, and shimmying across the dance floor with Broadway Bound Kids! This year, we will be offering three programs in July and August.

SUMMER MUSICAL: SHREK JR. (July 10th-28th)
Beauty is in the eye of the OGRE in Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and Tony-winning Broadway musical. It's a "big, bright, beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message about learning to embrace the amazing uniqueness in every one of us.
With abundant opportunities for all students to shine, there's a part for everyone in this dazzling adventure story!

KIDS ON BROADWAY
Session One: Outside In (July 10th-14th)
This program, inspired by the film Inside Out, takes a look at the depth of our many emotions. Students will have the opportunity to explore and personify these feelings by creating their own musical using Broadway show tunes as well as contemporary pop hits. This week is sure to deliver a range of feelings and a range of fun!

Session Two: Me Encanto Musical Theater (July 17th-21st)
Looking for a charming way to spend your summer? Inspired by the new Disney film Encanto and the music of Lin Manuel Miranda, students in this program will step into Encanto's magical world and discover the unique gifts they possess. Join us for the magic!

Session Three: BBK’s Got Talent (July 24th-28th)
Let’s face it – we’ve all watched a TV talent competition and imagined ourselves on the stage. American Idol, The X Factor, The Voice, and countless other programs have been mainstays of our lives! In BBK’s Got Talent, performers will create a musical inspired by the triumphs of television competitions. It’s time to grab the mic and show off!

YOUR BROADWAY MOMENT! INTERACTIVE MUSICAL REVUE & MASTER CLASSES (July 31st-August 11th)
Curtain up! In this two-week class, BBK teaching artists will work with students to create a cohesive musical revue based on the songs and shows that light up Broadway! At the end of each week, students will take part in a Masterclass with a Broadway performer, and be given the opportunity to perform for a Broadway actor. This incredibly fun program is designed to scale to each student's individual experience, ability, and passions. Don’t miss your Broadway Moment!
