About this camp
Barrie Camp is a day camp on the 45-acre campus of Barrie School in Silver Spring, Maryland, serving children ages 3 1/2 to 14. Operating in the Washington, D.C. area since the 1950s, the camp runs eight weekly sessions plus a shorter Warm Up Week. General day campers rotate through nine activity periods a day, including two swim periods, plus sports, arts and crafts, canoeing, dance, drama and outdoor living skills; campers entering first grade and above add archery and digital video production. Specialty and Super Camps combine a half day of concentrated study with a half day of general camp activities. Facilities include a 25-meter outdoor pool, two gymnasiums, a black box theater, art and ceramics studios, athletic fields, an archery range and hiking trails. Over 150 staff work each summer, and the camp is accredited by the American Camp Association.
Camp day 9:00 am-3:55 pm; extended day 7:30 am-6:00 pm. Bus transportation from stops in Montgomery County and Northwest Washington, D.C.
