American Shakespeare Centers Young Company theatre

ASC Theatre Camp is run by the American Shakespeare Center at the Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton, Virginia. Twice each summer, roughly 30 to 40 high school students take part in a three-week intensive combining Shakespeare study, theatre training and a performance on the Blackfriars stage. Campers work alongside ASC actors, professional directors and resident scholars, studying text, early modern staging conditions and stagecraft, and they attend all professional productions running at the playhouse during their session. Both residential and day-student options are offered, and tuition for residential campers covers lodging, meals and show tickets. Admission is by application only; all prospective campers must apply and be accepted. Tuition for the 2026 season is $3,975.
