Black Radish Theatre Presents Inaugural Production WAITING FOR GODOT Image

Black Radish Theatre presents their inaugural production of WAITING FOR GODOT, by Samuel Beckett, April 25-May 12, 2019, at the GRAND's Flanagan Theatre (608 1 Street SW).

Two tramps wait on a country road by a tree. They're waiting for a man who promises to, but never arrives.

Waiting for Godot is one of the most iconic and significant plays of the 20th century. Drawing endless interpretations, it crackles with deadpan wit and linguistic invention, as well as offering compelling glimpses into our existential absurdity.

The play reveals humanity's talents for stoicism, companionship and dogged determination.

It asks all the big philosophical questions - about life and death and the uncertain purpose of what goes on in between - but in a way that isn't limited to a particular place or era.

An existential feast seasoned with slapstick comedy.

BLACK RADISH THEATRE is a new Calgary-based theatre company founded by four of Calgary's best-known professional actors - Christopher Hunt (an eight-time winner of Calgary's Betty Mitchell Awards), Andy Curtis (a founding member of the One Yellow Rabbit ensemble), Duval Lang (co-founder of Quest Theatre), and Tyrell Crews (a Betty Mitchell and Critter Award winning actor and graduate of Mount Royal University). Black Radish Theatre is also one of The GRAND's newly announced companies in residence.

WAITING FOR GODOT stars Christopher Hunt as Estragon, Andy Curtis as Vladimir, Duval Lang as Pozzo, Tyrell Crews as Lucky, and Anton Matsigura as The Boy.

WAITING FOR GODOT is Directed by One Yellow Rabbit member Denise Clarke, Assistant Director Sarah Wheeldon, Set & Lighting Designer Terry Gunvordahl, Sound Designer Peter Moller, Costume Designer Ralamy Kneeshaw.

WAITING FOR GODOT is at The GRAND April 25-May 12, 2019. Performance times are evenings at 7:30pm Tue-Sat, with additional matinees at 2pm on Sat-Sun.
