Todd Murray Coming to Birdland, 4/13
By: Tyler Peterson
Noted critic Rex Reed called Todd “ a cabaret prince headed for the big cabaret throne†and heralded the performance as “a faultless show I felt privileged to attend.†From lush ballads, swing and Latin beats, rock and pop, CROON travels popular music from the 1920â€s to the present. Alex Rybeck is featured on piano, Steve Doyle on bass, and Sean Harkness on jazz guitar; all three musicians lend back-up vocals, providing the album with a full sound. They will also be backing Todd at this monumental Birdland debut. This accompaniment putâ€s the albumâ€s focus and concertâ€s emphasis on Toddâ€s rich, silky smooth vocals. The listener experiences the intimacy that Murray is singing directly to them and only them.
Backstage Magazine praised Murray as “a silky crooner from the dreamy school of emoting.†CROON is now available on iTunes, Amazon.com, ToddMurray.com and will be sold at the concert. Todd will be signing CDs after the performance.
