Todd Murray celebrates the release of his new CD CROON with a special performance of his acclaimed CROON: When A Whisper Became A Song at the legendary Birdland, 315 West 44th St.,New York, on Monday, April 13th, at 7pm. There is a $30.00 cover charge (there is a $10 food/beverage minimum). Due to the high demand for this special event, reservations are highly recommended by calling 212-581-06-0440. You can also visit BirdlandJazz.com or ToddMurray.com for further information.

This marks Murrayâ€s return to the New York City club scene following his immensely successful and critically performances at Feinsteinâ€s At the Regency, the Metropolitan Room, Town Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Noted critic Rex Reed called Todd “ a cabaret prince headed for the big cabaret throne†and heralded the performance as “a faultless show I felt privileged to attend.â€

From lush ballads, swing and Latin beats, rock and pop, CROON travels popular music from the 1920â€s to the present. Alex Rybeck is featured on piano, Steve Doyle on bass, and Sean Harkness on jazz guitar; all three musicians lend back-up vocals, providing the album with a full sound. They will also be backing Todd at this monumental Birdland debut. This accompaniment putâ€s the albumâ€s focus and concertâ€s emphasis on Toddâ€s rich, silky smooth vocals. The listener experiences the intimacy that Murray is singing directly to them and only them.

Among CROONâ€s outstanding tracks is a remake of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic This Guyâ€s In Love With You. Another standout is an original song written by Rybeck and Murray And Iâ€m Leaving Today. Perhaps influenced and a homage to Bacharach, with its tempo changes and intricate melody line, it sounds as if it was written and arranged by the iconic composer himself. Murray also shows his jazzier side with his interpretation of Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps and the Leonard Cohen song Iâ€m You Man. Murrayâ€s deep baritone is the perfect compliment for a cover of the Lou Rawls classic Youâ€ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine. Todd also provides fresh new twists and meaning to classic standards Donâ€t Get Around Much Anymore, Iâ€ve Got You Under My Skin, Youâ€ll Never Know and If Ever I Would Leave You. And then there is the tribute to the King himself with Toddâ€s moving Elvis classics Love Me Tender/I Canâ€t Help Falling In Love With You.

CROON is the perfect showcase of Todd Murrayâ€s talents, that is a throwback to a bygone era when the emphasis was on the singer and their voice. Again Todd Murray proves, as Frontiers Magazine says to be “a crooner with a great set of chops and the sensibilities of his legendary predecessors ,†and
Backstage Magazine praised Murray as “a silky crooner from the dreamy school of emoting.â€

CROON is now available on iTunes, Amazon.com, ToddMurray.com and will be sold at the concert. Todd will be signing CDs after the performance.
