Erich Steinbock, Managing Director of The Carlyle Hotel, announced today that Christine Ebersole's upcoming Café Carlyle engagement will be delayed one day so that the famed venue can add one final performance of "At Home At The Carlyle: Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim. . . One Song At A Time" on Tuesday evening, February 2nd, the occasion of Ms. Stritch's 85th Birthday. Ms. Stritch, who triumphantly opened in her new show last week, was to have played to Saturday, January 30th, with Ms. Ebersole beginning on February 2nd (Ebersole now plays February 3 - 20).
Mr. Steinbock explained, "Christine Ebersole thought it would be a great idea if Elaine was on stage on her actual birthday, and I agreed immediately. Elaine Stritch is one of New York's greatest stars and one of the Carlyle's cherished residents. We plan on really celebrating that night, and I know the evening will be one of the most legendary in The Carlyle's storied history."Photo credit: Walter McBride
