Following a sold-out premiere at Joe's Pub last December, Shakina makes her 54 Below debut with ONE WOMAN SHOW: A Work In Progress, recounting in song and story the exploits and misadventures that led to her gender transition. A story of surviving the 90s and creating a new life in a new millennium, the OC Weekly calls Shakina "a bona fide standout," and VICE magazine says, "nothing will stop her in becoming who she is."

ONE WOMAN SHOW is a benefit for Shakina's high profile KickStartHer campaign to raise funds for gender confirmation surgery. As seen in the Daily News, Gothamist, Logo's New Now Next blog, and her in-depth interview with Huffington Post Live, Shakina's public approach to her gender confirmation is living performance art with a dark, funny, and powerful cabaret edge.

Featuring gender-bending show tune standards, a few classic covers, and new songs by Sam Salmond, Julianne Wick Davis, and Nikko Benson. Jeremy Robin Lyons music directs, with Mike Rosengarten (guitar), Joseph Wallace (bass), and Jeff Roberts (drums) in the band.

Stick around when the show comes down for an all-star KickStartHer After Party hosted by Shakina and featuring some of her favorite leading ladies in a 90s chick rock celebration of female empowerment. The concert party includes performances by Kate Loprest (First Date), Leslie McDonel (American Idiot, Hairspray), Anastacia McCleskey (Hair, Book of Mormon) Natalie Wachen (Rent Off Broadway), Mary Kate Morrissey (Hair National Tour), Rachel Lee (Joe Iconis and Family), Amanda Savan (On The Record), Lauren Marcus (Pregnancy Pact) and more!

"ONE WOMAN SHOW" plays 54 Below (254 West 54th Street) tonight, February 20th at 9:30PM. There is a $35-$45 cover charge and $20 food and beverage minimum. Admission to the show includes the after party. After-party-only tickets are also available for $15. Tickets and information are available at 54below.com. Tickets on the day of performance after 2:00pm are only available by calling (646) 476-3551.
