Second Avenue Meets Broadway: A benefit cabaret directed by Michael Montel will be held at the Museum of the City of New York, tonight, May 31st, from 6:30pm to 8pm (cocktails begin at 8pm).

Held in the Museum’s intimate 250-seat auditorium, the May 31st cabaret evening will feature a 90-minute performance by a cast of Broadway stars, featuring the legendary Tovah Feldshuh and Sheldon Harnick, Tony Award-winning lyricist for Fiddler on the Roof. The show will also include performances by Gregg Edelman, Randy Graff, Stephen Mo Hanan, Rachel Ulanet and Stephanie Umoh, and feature songs in both Yiddish and English.

Following the cabaret, there will be a cocktail reception in the Museum’s lobby rotunda. All proceeds go to the Museum’s 2013 exhibition Second Avenue Meets Broadway, which will examine how the popularity and proliferation of Yiddish theater at the turn of the 20th century had a defining impact not only on the American Jewish experience, but also on mainstream entertainment—with countless performers, composers, playwrights and directors who had their start on the Yiddish stage becoming key figures in English-language entertainment.

Tickets begin at $125. For more information go to https://boxoffice.mcny.org/public/. To purchase tickets please contact Amy Krafft at (917) 492-3414 or akrafft@mcny.org.
