Bridgeport's Downtown Cabaret Theatre presents The Rod Stewart Experience, featuring national entertainer Rick Larrimore, whose sold-out tribute performances have earned standing ovations throughout America.
Audiences will hear such Stewart hits as "
Maggie May," "Do You Think I'm Sexy," "Some Guys Have All The Luck," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain," "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" as well as some of the "newer" oldies, from Stewart's four Grammy Award-winning standards CD's.
The
Rod Stewart Experience featuring Rick Larrimore will take the stage of the Downtown Cabaret Theatre for two performances ONLY on Friday, January 18 (2013) at 7:30pm and Saturday, January 19 at 8:30pm. The Downtown Cabaret Theatre is located at 263 Golden Hill Street in downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Rick Larrimore grew up outside of Baltimore and at age 14 began playing drums and singing professionally. He was inspired by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and most notably an early
Rod Stewart when Rod was with Jeff Beck. "I'd listen to Rod sing "Let Me Love You" with my ear jammed right against one of the speakers so I wouldn't disturb my mom and sisters," Larrimore stated.
After attending The Berklee College of Music in Boston, Larrimore never looked back, hitting the rock-'n-roll highway singing and playing drums everywhere. He shared the stage with countless top national acts while refining that raspy
Rod Stewart vocal style, which he naturally credits to Stewart himself, as well as a fondness for Paul Rodgers of "Bad Company," and his all-time favorite performer,
Jackie Wilson. According to Larrimore "Jackie was THE dancer before
JAmes Brown and
Michael Jackson and could sing every note! I would like to think I have a little
Jackie Wilson in my stage persona."
But it's Larrimore's uncanny interpretation of
Rod Stewart that has mesmerized and even fooled so many in his audiences even to the extreme of audience members shooting entire rolls of film before they realize it's not the "real"
Rod Stewart!
Larrimore continues to be stopped for autographs and pictures in airports and restaurants. Even
Arturo Sandoval, renowned trumpet player featured on
Rod Stewart's Classic CDs and DVD's, was taken aback when he ran into Rick outside a casino gig.
In less than three years, the "Ultimate" Tribute to
Rod Stewart featuring "Blondes Have More Fun," his six piece backup band, Larrimore has created major buzz from Las Vegas to Rio de Janeiro! As he says, "I invite you to come see for yourself...and accept NO substitutes!!...well, maybe just one!"
