It was night that will long be remembered by fans (and who isn't) of Marilyn Maye and of American Songbook hero, Dick Robinson. Marilyn is currently celebrating her 90th year with her current engagement at Feinstein's/54 Below and her friend Dick Robinson, creator of Legends Radio and founder of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting is celebrating his 80th.
The evening was the hottest ticket in town as Marilyn, arguably the finest pop/jazz singer of our generation thrilled the audience with a song list of some of the great classics on the Marilyn Maye Great American Song List. Her longtime friend and musical collaborator Billy Stritch was at the piano and the evening became an extra special event.
The music and the festivities didn't end with the standing ovations as singer Deborah Silver and husband Larry hosted an after party for Marilyn and Dick high atop New York City.
Tune into Legends Radio based in Florida and heard world wide on the internet this week. You're probably going to hear "The Old Jock" Dick Robinson reminiscing about this special night and playing The Great American Songbook.
