Singer, songwriter, actress, author and philanthropist Nita Whitaker will grace Stage 72 (formerly the Triad) to perform a mix of popular music and original compositions in a one night only concert on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 7:00pm. Musical direction is by Eugene Gwozdz.

She will be the second artist to perform in Motown The Musical director Charles Randolph-Wright's "Three Voices" concert series, which will also feature Christine Toy Johnson and began with Dodie Pettit.

Ms. Whitaker has sung with some of the most famous voices of our time. Having toured with Andrea' Bocelli as a guest duet artist as well a featured vocalist on tour with jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, Nita has performed in concert venues large and small and has become a favorite of legendary producer David Foster.

A former Miss Louisiana and Grand Champion Star Search Winner, Nita's superb vocals blend jazz, pop, and gospel into her own unique sound. She also has performed on stage, including three world premiere musicals, Ragtime, Me and Mrs. Jones (with Lou Rawls) and Ten Commandments The Musicalplaying Val Kilmer's wife; on screen in The Bodyguard; television shows such as "Fresh Prince," and studio recordings. Most recently, Nita was a finalist on the NBC singing show "The Winner Is," as a mother-daughter duo with her youngest daughter Liisi. In June of 2013 Nita executive produced Rent-unplugged in Los Angeles.

Ms. Nita Whitaker LaFontaine's inspirational memoir entitled: Finding My Voice: My journey through Grief to Grace-Living with the loss of Don LaFontaine, won TWO 2013 national book awards from Reader Excellence Indie Awards and a third award from Indie Discovery Excellence. Her book shares the personal journey of their lives, the loss of the love of her life voice legend Don LaFontaine, and her family's survival. In his honor she established In A World with Books, a non-profit whose mission is to give books to underserved elementary children that they can own.

Christine Toy Johnson will appear in the final installment of the "Three Voices" concert series on Monday, November 11th at 7pm.
