On Monday, May 19, New York Theatre Barn will be presenting its next installment of its monthly show highlighting new composers, writers and artists, NYTB at the Duplex.

The first set of the evening will feature Kristen Sergeant (Tonya & Nancy: The Opera) in her new show In Time. Ms. Sergeant will be accompanied by David Budway (piano) and Saadi Zain (bass). In Time is a temporal cabaret of anticipation, resolution, and what we do in our mean-whiles. Time and rhythm find daring new voice in songs by Sondheim, Kander & Ebb, Robert Allen, and Styne, Comden & Green.

New York Theatre Barn will then present part 2 of Brad Bass' (Wicked, Memphis at La Jolla Playhouse) new show, a little bitty pissant country boy's cabaret… DAYBREAK. Daybreak will be directed by Bobby Cronin (B.R.A.T.T. Camp, That's Andy) with music direction by Ray Bailey and featuring Briana DeVol and Marcus Montoya. From the farm to the city… from west 158th street to Broadway. The path we travel to reach our dreams is long and tiring. It can wear us down and cause us to loose hope. But if we believe in ourselves, in our friends, in our dreams, and in love we will be able to reach the sky… we will be able to see DAYBREAK.

New York Theatre Barn will also be announcing the two plays that will a part of its second annual New Play Reading Series: "Good Hope," a new play written by August Schulenburg and directed by Keith Powell (30 Rock, Producing Artistic Director Contemporary Stage Company, Artist in Residence Stamford Arts Center), and "Wood" a new musical written by Julianne Wick Davis and Dan Collins, and directed by Thomas Caruso (Mimi LeDuck).

In addition New York Theatre Barn will also welcome special guests Scott Nevins and Stonewall Sensations Rob Baumgartner, Tori Scott and Mary Ann Schaub who will offer a sneak peak at the competition and something in-the-works at New York Theatre Barn. Stonewall Sensation (http://www.myspace.com/stonewallsensation) is a talent competition which takes place every Wednesday evening at the Stonewall Inn (53 Christopher Street).

Each month NYTB at the Duplex provides an audience and an outlet for new artists to explore and create, as well as gain feedback and support. NYTB at the Duplex is an arena that showcases up-and-coming songwriters and performers, and also merges new artists with highly-established writers and performers in the industry. We occasionally offer selections from our current projects as well as others we are in the process of developing. While the event lives in a cabaret atmosphere, expectations and ambitions. The evening is a fusion of cabaret, musical theatre and popular music and is ultimately a celebration of the artists involved. In addition, the event is designed to work as a networking tool between the artists involved and the artists who attend the event. It is New York Theatre Barn's continued mission to serve new artists and to support, develop and advance their work.

The Duplex Cabaret Theater is located at 61 Christopher Street at Seventh Avenue. Tickets are $10 with a two-drink minimum and the show begins at 9:30pm. Reservations are necessary. For reservations please call 212-255-5438.
