CARRIE RODRIGUEZ with LUCINDA BLACK BEAR
Wednesday, August 6 at 7:00PM, $15

Carrie Rodriguez celebrates the release of her latest album. She Ain't Me, produced by Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris, Kaki King) will be released on August 5th via Manhattan/Back Porch (EMI).  The album features guest vocals from Gary Louris (The Jayhawks) and Lucinda Williams.  Tonight her band features Hans Holzen (guitar), Kyle Kegerreis (bass), Eric Platz (drums), and Javier Vercher (keyboards/sax) and Greg Leisz - as a very special guest (he's a magician with all stringed instruments).
Born from minor keys and a heavy dose of melody, Lucinda Black Bear evokes the rapture and sorrow of a motherless cub. The new album frolics the musky musical landscape with palatable sonic morsels incorporating cellos, feedback, loops, pianos, drums, and oddly tuned acoustic and electric guitars.

THE SECTION QUARTET
PLAYING THE MUSIC OF RADIOHEAD
Wednesday, August 6 at 9:30PM, $20
The Section Quartet challenges ideas about the role of strings in rock, pop and alternative music, and fundamental notions about what a rock band can be. TSQ doesn't play classical music -- they only play rock & roll: by turns one of the most in-demand crews for both recording studio collaborations and electrifying live performances alongside music's top artists and producers, and a bona fide rock band in their own right. This Los Angeles based rock band disguised as a string quartet has sold out shows from Dublin to New York to LA and conquered the Main Stage at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival…TWICE.

KIRSTEN PRICE
Thursday, August 7 at 7:30PM, $12 in advance, $15 at the door

"Raw, sexy, kick ass...Kirsten Price has the pipes of Janis Joplin and a truly electrifying stage presence" - GO NYC Magazine

Industry bible Billboard Magazine tells us that Kirsten Price "should offer triple A radio a new star".  This Brit-born, Brooklyn-based singer has fashioned a genre bending sound that Metromix refers to as "A sassy spin on soul music." Even before the release of her debut album Guts & Garbage, Price's music had been featured in such heavyweight television shows as The L-Word, CSI and Cashmere Mafia.
She has already toured extensively on her own, and served as the hand-picked opener for Wyclef Jean, and, more recently, the long-missing-in-action Sly Stone.

KING WILKIE
Thursday, August 7 at 9:30PM, $15

"All Hail King Wilkie"
- Washington Post

Even as they were named 2004's Emerging Artist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association, the sound of King Wilkie was extending outward in directions that could no longer be comfortably contained under the bluegrass banner. The band spent the next two years touring non-stop, building a die-hard following and honing an idiosyncratic new sound. The result is the evocative, harrowing Low Country Suite - a dramatic push into uncharted sonic terrain. Haunting yet strangely uplifting, Low Country Suite is the captivating sound of a band willing to leave precedent behind to create intoxicating new music from the jagged remains of yesterday.

STEVE NIEVE: MAYBE
Friday, August 8 at 7:30PM, $25

Steve Nieve, the keyboardist, best known for his work with Elvis Costello, participates to the birth of a new band "Maybe". A band conceived in  Paris France by Jokka and Vic.  Jokka  (drummer)  composes the music and  gives his energy of rock and metal.  Vic,  vocals - composes the lyrics and provides the  romantic  french touch, a fusion that might be called Romantic Metal.  Steve Nieve  will  introduce  some new titles of his own and then he will introduce  "MAYBE" - VIC vocals - JOKKA drums-  SETH guitar-  NIEVE keyboards.

DK DYSON
Friday, August 8 at 9:30PM, $15 in advance, $18 at the door

"Here is a voice of unfathomable range and nerve-fibrillating sensitivity that could probably  just lie back and let itself be groomed. You can almost see an Uncle Clive (Davis) beseeching the woman to put down her pen and put on some airs. But you get the feeling that someone who's never put up anything but a fight is not about to stop now."

KARSH KALE / MIDIVAL PUNDITZ

$15 in advance, $20 at the door

In 2003, New York based producer Karsh Kale and New Delhi based electronica group The Midival Punditz pioneered a sound synonymous with the sublime blurring of boundaries between Classical Indian, Electronica and Rock. They coined the name "Asian Massive" to describe this genre. Five years and four albums later, and a successful ten city North American 2008 tour, this all star line-up New York for a series fierce live sets that will include new material from Karsh Kale, the Midival Punditz, and other special guests. Also Featuring DJ Sets by NYC Global Glitch Guru: Zakhm (Kollektiv).

EILEN JEWELL with THE SACRED SHAKERS
Sunday, August 10 at 7:00PM, $15

Many compared Eilen Jewell's talents to those of Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch and June Carter Cash. The Boston Globe said, the slow organic sway of her melodies, and the sensual way she rubs against the low end of her register, will remind some of Gillian Welch. Also like Welch, her writing is both intimate and vivid, classically framed and closely observed. In an era dominated by artfully inscrutable songwriters, her songs come on like nakedness and thunder and her keenly visual way of articulating deep emotion is palpable.
For The Sacred Shakers, there's nothing finer than old-time, country and blues-influenced gospel music. Think Hank Williams, The Carter Family, The Stanley Brothers, Son House, and Mississippi Fred McDowell. In short order, The Boston Globe described the group as "a local Who's Who of all-star roots musicians."

Monday, August 11 at 7:30PM, $20

The album, entitled "LA Curse" is being released by Lionsgate Records.  His film credits include "An American in China," "Anderson's Cross," "Shuttle," "She's The Man" and "Pretty Persuasion."
