Joe Iconis in 'Jamboree' at Beechman Nov.25

By:

"The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree," an evening of tunes by musical theater writer Joe Iconis, will play The Laurie Beechman Theater on November 25 at 7PM.

Pain in the ass writer Joe Iconis returns to the Beechman, bringing with him his merry band of musical theater punks.  "The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree" is a laid-back evening of Iconis tunes, featuring cuts from Joe's recently-orphaned musical The Black Suits, and a bunch of new songs.  Songs of hate and hope, suburbia and pornography, cougars and jailbait, dead people and livin' things and more sing-alongs than you can shake a glass of whiskey at.  Some surprise special guests will join Joe for this, the first and only stop on his legendary "Ain't No Funeral" Tour 2007.  So come on down to the Jamboree- it's loud, soft, sweet, nasty, and, above all else, bloody as hell.

The cast includes Iconis-stalwarts Jason "SweetTooth" Williams, Lance Rubin and Matt Hinkley.  More shimmering stars announced shortly.

Iconis, who got his MFA from the NYU/Tisch Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program, is the recipient of a 2007 Ed Kleban Award, and a 2006 Jonathan Larson Award, as well as a 2007 Backstage Bistro Award and a 2006 Daryl Roth Award.  Joe is the author of the garage-band rock musical, The Black Suits (book co-written with Robert Maddock), "The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks" (for TheatreWorksUSA), and "Things to Ruin: The Songs of Joe Iconis" (Joe's Pub, Ars Nova.)  Joe is the writer of that "Blue Hair" song that lots of white girls like to sing, and he runs a fake headshot business called "Photos By Ike."

The Laurie Beechman Theater is located inside the Westbank Café at 407 West 42nd Street (off 9th Ave.)  There is a $5 cover and a $15 food/drink minimum.  Reservations (strongly suggested) can be made by calling 212-695-6909 . www.westbankcafe.com/theater for more info: www.mrjoeiconis.com
