Dutch classical pianist and comedic street performer, Christiaan Oranje, resumes his weekly residence at The Green Room, 45 Bleecker with an ambitious combination of classical music, autobiography, mime, impressions, slapstick, and serious drama chronicling the artist's lifelong searchfor his musical "voice".

Thwarted, like so many of us, by a world bound and determined to turn out humans like a cannery turns out tuna fish, Oranje, through fruitless trips to academic institutions, therapists, his own father, concert halls, the street and dissolute, back alleys of Paris, seeks to find out just what kind of fish he is and, in doing so, entertains and reassures us all.

Critically acclaimed the world over for the subtle undertones that subliminally remind audiences of past luminaries like Victor Borge and Danny Kaye (not to mention his less-subtle impressions of Frank Sinatra -- in Dutch -- and a cauliflower . . . rotting), Christiaan, with his latest effort (which will be touring Europe beginning in August), conjures up an excitingly new mixture combining the concert hall with the classic theatrical halls of comedy and authentic, personal drama.

Christiaan Oranje: Boy Meets Piano is Sundays at Noon (6 Performances Only, Beginning May 25th) at The Green Room at 45 Bleecker Street. Tickets are $25, available from Telecharge.
