Anna Bergman Brings YOU & THE NIGHT & THE MUSIC to Feinstein's, 10/15-29
Acclaimed international concert and cabaret artist Anna Bergman returns to Feinstein's at Loews Regency (540 Park Avenue @ 61st Street) on October 15, 21, 22, 28 & 29 (8:00pm) with her show "You & the Night & the Music: An Evening of Musical Imports & Exports". This showfeatures her musical director and arranger Alex Rybeck, Jered Egan on bass and is directed by Jeff Harnar.
In "You & the Night & the Music: An Evening of Musical Imports & Exports," Ms. Bergman presents an international musical scrapbook and audience favorites. From the American songbook, she includes selections by Cole Porter (I LOVE PARIS), Leonard Bernstein (GLITTER & BE GAY), Arthur Schwartz & Howard Dietz (YOU & THE NIGHT & THE MUSIC), George & Ira Gershwin (EMBRACEABLE YOU), Maury Yeston (HOME), Adam Guettel (FABLE), Carol King (SO FAR AWAY) and John Denver (LEAVING ON A JET PLANE). Raised abroad as the daughter of an American diplomat and an actress, she pays tribute to her European roots with Parisian chanson (SOUS LE CIEL DE PARIS), Viennese operetta (VILIA) and Italian opera (QUANDO M'EN VO), and pays homage to such artists as Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich.
Anna Bergman is delighted to return to Feinstein's where also premiered her shows "Wherever Love Takes Me" and "My Heart Stood Still: The Love Songs of Richard Rodgers." Hailed by THE WASHINGTON POST as a "songstress who has triumphed in everything from Broadway-flavored tunes to opera arias and the sultry innuendoes of the cabaret chanteuse" and "Vocal Citizen of the World," Ms. Bergman enjoys an international career performing in concerts, cabaret, theatre, opera, music festivals, with symphony orchestras, on television and recordings. Highlights: soloist at the White House and HM Queen Elizabeth's birthday celebration, Lincoln Center's American Songbook (with Barbara Cook), Kennedy Center's Sondheim Celebration in "A Little Night Music", Carnegie Hall's centennial Tribute to Ira Gershwin, New York Festival of Song, Lyrics & Lyricists, symphony orchestras such as Princeton Symphony Orchestra (with Brent Barrett) and Pasadena Pops, Jeff Harnar's 1959 Broadway Songbook (London and 59E59 Theatres),"The Light In The Piazza" (in concert as Margaret, with Adam Guettel and Matthew Morrison), Johnny Mercer centennial concerts (PBS with Steve Ross) and her own PBS Special "A Salon with Anna Bergman." She continues to present her salon concerts, most recently in Moscow, Chicago, and also in Seattle for acclaimed glass artist Dale Chihuly. She has thrilled audiences from London's Café Royal and Brazil's Manaus Opera House to such music festivals as Aspen, Caramoor, Chicago Humanities, The Hamptons and International Festival Cardiff, Wales (BBC TV).
Anna's signature repertoire celebrates the American songbook and European music in a range of styles, from pop to classical, in six languages. She has garnered critical acclaim for her solo Concert-Cabarets at popular venues from The Kennedy Center to The Kravis Center in Palm Beach. Theatre and opera credits include leading roles in works from Chekhov and Mamet to Sondheim, Porter, Lehar and Mozart. Anna is a graduate and fellow of Vassar College and theAspen Music School.
