'An Evening of Music & Comedy II' at Don't Tell Mama March 26


Producer Michael Martinez is proud to present "An Evening of Music and Comedy II" at Don't Tell Mama on Wednesday, March 26 at 7PM. This showcase and variety show will feature singer Molly Gilman (Pinkalicious), singer Jamie Taylor Harper, award winning vocalist Don Shortslef, and singer Amy Zelcer. Comedian Amy Bruckner will be the special guest MC for the evening. Martinez has previously presented showcases at Don't Tell Mama and several other New York City clubs. These showcases highlight emerging stars in comedy, music, and musical theater. Showtime is 7PM, door opens at 6:30PM. Molly Gilman is a graduate of Vassar College with a BA in Classics. She has trained with the American Theatre Wings's Springboard NYC, TVI Studios (NY), the GYM, NY Stage & Film and Powerhouse at VC, the Paper Mill Playhouse, and the NJ Shakespeare Festival. She has a nomination for the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical (past nominees/recipients include Anne Hathaway and Laura Benanti). She recently made her directorial debut with a young actors' production of The Timid Dragon. Molly can currently be seen as Dr. Wink/Alison (orig. role) in Vital Theatre Company's Pinkalicious, running at New World Stages.    

April Bruckner- At twenty three years of age April Brucker is pulling no punches and leaving the punchlines at the end. The accomplished standup comedian, ventriloquist, and actress has burned up stages in NYC in clubs such as The Laugh Factory, the Laugh Lounge, Joe Franklin's Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, Pips, and many others in the city as well as across the country. In addition, April has appeared in Toronto at Hospital for Sick Children. April's talents don't stop there. April opened for Off-Broadway smash 27 Heaven and appeared in Murder Me Always. In addition, April has appeared in short films for and as well as on "Cash Cab," "Last Comic Standing 5," and the "West Wing." April's children's show, "Storytime With April and Friends," can be seen in 36 states, 6 countries, and the world wide web. Jamie Taylor Harper - A recent transplant from San Francisco, Jamie has performed on many Bay Area stages since graduating from San Francisco State University with a BA in Theatre Arts, where she studied under Tony nominated playwright/director Barbara Damashek. Previous stage credits include Ragtime and Beauty and the Beast (Woodminster Theatre, CA), Woman 2 in Songs For a New World (Ray of Light Theatre, SF), Assassins (SFSU).  She recently made her New York stage debut in Knock 'Em Dead with International Studio Theatre.

Don Shortslef's style includes a blend of Contemporary Christian and Country, including original material written by his brother, Dennis. Don can currently be heard on worldwide Christian Country radio and has appeared as a guest artist on Christian crusades and TV. In 1998, Don was awarded National Male Vocalist of the Year by the Country Gospel Music Association (CGMA). In 2007, Don released two singles on Christian radio in Europe. Both singles A Vision Of The Cross, and Two Thousand Years Ago, reached the top 10 on the New Christian Music (NCM) Euro Country Chart. To date, Don has reelased five C.D.'s. Amy Zelcer is a recent graduate of Harvard University, where she was a member of the improv comedy troupe On Thin Ice, won Harvard's annual singing competition, Harvard Idol, and performed in several original musicals.  New York: Littlest Light on the Christmas Tree (Melissa) at Vital Children's Theatre; reading of The Masked Zinfandel at Musical Mondays; The American Musical Project; Don't Touch the Foot.
