For unsuspecting New Yorkers, the truth was literally closer than ever! Below, watch the surprising extraterretrial encounter confirming we are not alone! THE X-FILES event series returns for a 10-episode second installment on Wednesday, January 3 at 8/7c c on FOX.

THE X-FILES originally premiered on September, 10 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson), as they investigate unexplained cases - "X-Files" - for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

An all-new second chapter of THE X-FILES event series premieres Wednesday, Jan. 3 @ 8/7c. Series creator Chris Carter returns as executive producer, writer and director, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning in their iconic roles. Produced by 20th Century FOX Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, THE X-FILES is created and executive-produced by Chris Carter. Series veteran Glen Morgan also serves as an executive producer, writer and director.
