Simon Andreae Named West Coast SVP Of Development And Production For Discovery Channel

Clark Bunting, President and General Manager of Discovery Channel and President of Science Channel, today announced that Simon Andreae has been named Senior Vice President of Development and Production, based in Los Angeles, CA. He will start on June 1.

In this newly created post, Andreae will be responsible for leading the Discovery's West Coast development and production of series and specials that contribute to the strategic vision and direction of the network. As a key member of Discovery's senior management team, he will work closely with Bunting and Stephen Reverend, Discovery's East Coast SVP of Development and Production.

Andreae most recently served as Co-President of The Incubator, the multi-award-winning independent Production Company behind such projects as the BANFF World TV Festival and New York Festival-winner In the Womb (with Pioneer Productions for National Geographic), Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman (with Revelations Entertainment for Science Channel), Science of Sex Appeal (Discovery Channel), Strange Rituals (History), My Shocking Story (TLC), and Jilted (WEtv). The Incubator will continue to operate under existing President Lisa Andreae.

Prior the The Incubator, Andreae served as Head of Science and Education at Channel Four in the UK, where he oversaw more than 100 hours of programming each year. Under his leadership, the division received its highest ratings in 22 years, as well as awards including a BAFTA and Emmys. Andreae started his career as founding partner of UK indie Optomen Television, today one of the UK's largest and most respected nonfiction production companies.
