According to Deadline.com, Russell Crowe will make his directorial debut with THE WATER DIVINER, in which he will also star. The film is written by Andrew Knight and Andrew Anastasios and will begin shooting in Turkey and Australia later this year.

The movie is set in 1919 and follows an Australian who travels to Turkey to find his two sons who have gone missing following the battle of Gallipoli.

Crowe can currently be seen in Man of Steel and recently appeared in Les Miserables and Broken City. His next projects include Noah and Winter's Tale. Other film credits include: Robin Hood, State of Play, Body of Lies, American Gangster, 3:10 to Yuma, A Good Year, Cinderella Man, A Beautiful Mind, Gladiator and more.
