The publicity and hype surrounding AMERICAN SNIPER is far from what real-life sniper Chris Kyle enjoyed, says actor and Navy SEAL Dean Cain.

"It would be absolutely and completely surreal and strange to him," says Kyle's friend Cain. "And he'd probably want to go fishing. I'm not kidding. He'd go horseback riding. He'd want to do anything but be in the public eye."

"But," he says, "If it was able to help his fellow servicemen, Chris would be fine."

The former Lois and Clark star met and befriended Kyle through NBC's 2012 reality competition show, Stars Earn Stripes, which benefited The Wounded Warrior Project.

Cain also calls the late sniper a, "Very, very modest guy. He was self-deprecating."

"[Chris] just would say, 'I'm not that good," Cain said when asked what Kyle thought about being the most lethal sniper in American history. "'There are guys in my own unit that are better shots than me. I just happened to be in the right spot'."

After Michael Moore and Seth Rogen tweeted negative comments regarding Chris Kyle, Cain tweeted back in defense of his friend,

"Disparage #ChrisKyle to my face. We'll see who is a coward," he Tweeted in response to Moore.

To Rogen, he wrote, "Seth...I like your films, but right now, I wanna kick your ass."

Cain addressed his responses, saying, "My first reaction was anger and you know, maybe I could have been more eloquent," Cain says now. "But it felt like it deserved that kind of response. I stand by what I said."

Finally, Cain praised his friend's integrity once more, "There wasn't any glory in killing people for him. He said it was about all the guys he couldn't save."
