NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE CHRISTMAS Ranks #1 in Time Period

NBC is currently #1 for the night among the Big 4 in adults 18-49, as well as adults, men and women 18-34, pending updates.

An encore telecast of "A SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE Christmas" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) currently ranks #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, as well as adults, men and women 18-34; men 18-49 and women 18-49 (tie), pending updates. The "Saturday Night Live Christmas" rebroadcast is currently outrating original competition from ABC's "Great Christmas Light Fight" in adults 18-49 (1.5 vs. 1.3 from 8-10).

The "Saturday Night Live Christmas" rebroadcast grew from its first hour to its second in all key measures.

"State of Affairs" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) is currently tied for #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, as well as adults 25-54 and adults 18-34 and currently ranks #1 outright among those nets in all key adult-male demos, pending updates.

"State of Affairs" will add substantial audience via time-shifting, with average growth in "live plus seven day" to date of +42% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.73 to a 2.46) and 2.9 million viewers overall (7.1 million vs. 10.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.9/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.0/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.7/4 with an encore.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/4; "Late Show," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


For the Week:

NBC has finished #2 for the ratings week of Dec. 15-21 in adults 18-49, with its deficit to #1 CBS accounted for by NFL Network viewers for a Saturday game that CBS was able to count in its averages for the week.

According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 2.0 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 7.9 million viewers overall for the week. CBS averaged a 2.2 rating for the week in adults 18-49 but rounds to a 1.9 when NFL Network viewers are not counted in its averages for the week.

Even with CBS's boost of extra viewers Saturday night from the NFL Network, NBC ranked #1 for the week among the Big 4 networks in women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34.

NBC's "Sunday Night Football" joined with the Tuesday and Monday editions of "The Voice" to account for three of the week's top four primetime rankings on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, with football finishing #1, Tuesday's "Voice" finale #3 and Monday's "Voice" #4. Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows

The two editions of "The Voice" scored the week's top two rankings among entertainment primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX in adults 18-49, as well as adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-female demos.

"Sunday Night Football" ranked #1 among Big 4 primetime programs for the week in every key measure except women 25-54, where Tuesday's "The Voice" ranked #1. "SNF" was also #1 among primetime telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.

For the season, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in every key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. In adults 18-49, NBC ranks #1 by a +16% margin (with a 2.9 rating vs. a 2.5 for #2 CBS).

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 1% of its year-ago average (9.810 million vs. 9.878 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since 2006. This season and last also mark the first two times since 2003 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.
