Teen pop impresario and songwriter Brian Lukow has concluded an agreement for independent film director Martin Guigui to helm the feature film Crazy For The Boys, a musical dramedy which was written by Lukow, and is aimed at the burgeoning, lucrative tween and teen audience. Based on the fictional back story of the five-member girl group Drama Drama, the film will be produced by Michael Z. Gordon, a BMI Award-winning songwriter who founded surf-sound pop groups The Marketts and The Routers, and whose film and television composing credits include Pulp Fiction, Everybody Loves Raymond and Ally McBeal.

Gordon will be serving as the lead creative producer via his companies, My Own Worst Enemy Films, LLC and Americana Films. Feature films he has produced include Narc with Ray Liotta and Shortcut To Happiness with Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Alec Baldwin.

Gordon, who has worked in the music business "all my life," and made the successful transition into the movie business, notes "I've always been drawn to projects where film and music meet, thus appealing to the widest possible audience," explaining that he welcomed the opportunity to take on a project that is not just at the crossroads of music and movies, but that is poised to promote the pop group, Drama Drama, at the center of the film.

Lukow, who co-created the Billboard #1-selling boy band Dream Street, has assembled a creative dream team for Crazy For The Boys that includes musical director Drew Lane, whose credits include the platinum album High School Musical, which won the Billboard Soundtrack Album of the Year Award and the double-platinum Hannah Montana soundtrack CD. Wendy Starland, who is the creative consultant for Drama Drama and Crazy For The Boys, was honored by the Songwriters Hall of Fame and is credited with discovering Lady Gaga.

"Stylistically, Crazy For The Boys is a perfect marriage of choreographed pop music, and film for the loyal fan audience: tweens," notes Lukow, adding that each of Drama Drama's members are "stand-out triple threats. Every key member of our artistic team has had success in both the film and music industry." Lukow adds the project will be promoted through traditional as well as social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Guigui, whose most recent feature film, The Bronx Bull, starring Joe Mantegna, William Forsythe, Penelope Ann Miller, Paul Sorvino and Natasha Henstridge, is being released nationwide on October 11, is no stranger to the recording industry and to directing music-driven features, including the Nashville-set Changing Hearts, starring Lauren Holly and Faye Dunaway. He has also produced over 30 albums, and has worked with such name acts as Bret Michaels, Billy Gibbons, Phish, Joan Osborne and Billy Ray Cyrus.

"I fell in love with the project from the initial pitch, 'cause I've always wanted to make a youth-oriented musical with some of that ol' Grease pedigree. Crazy For The Boys has all that, plus a fun, contemporary edge that's relevant to our times," says Guigui. He also feels the film's anti-bullying theme will resonate with tweens in an entertaining, "non-preachy" way.

Indeed, the five members of Drama Drama -- who were cast in New York and Los Angeles from among thousands of hopefuls - each possess not only solid singing, dancing, and acting skills, but distinct personas such as the hippie chick, the preppie cheerleader, the punk rocker, the biker babe and the hip hop princess. Despite their differing sensibilities and the requisite challenges of being a teen girl - unrequited love, competition, peer pressure and general teen angst - how and why the girls become a pop group forms the heart of the story.

Lukow explains, "The recipe is to take five amazingly talented and charismatic girls singing hooky, original pop music with killer choreography and wrap it in a story that will resonate with kids on many levels. We have assembled an artistic team of first-class pros who have made their names in the convergence of music and movies on a worldwide scope."

Crazy For The Boys is targeting a 2013 production schedule and is currently assembling a star cast around Drama Drama.
