According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katie Holmes is set to make her directorial debut in a big screen adaptation of Annie Weatherwax's debut novel ALL WE HAD. Josh Boone ("Fault in Our Stars") will write the script while Jane Rosenthal will produce.

The actress will also star in the project which follows a mother (Holmes) and her 13-year-old daughter, who struggle to survive on the verge of poverty.

Said Rosenthal in a statement, "Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship. Her PASSION for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in THE COMEDY and drama of everyday, will truly bring these characters to life."

Holmes' latest film, 'Miss Meadows,' made its world premiere at this summer's Tribeca Film Festival and will hit theaters on November 14th. She recently appeared on the big screen in THE GIVER and Take This Waltz. The actress made her Broadway debut in the play 'Dead Account,' opposite Norbert Leo Butz.
