Following PRIVATE PRACTICE's recent conclusion, series star KaDee Strickland is moving on to a pulp thriller.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Strickland has signed on for NBC's upcoming drama pilot BLOODLINE from David Granziano. Peter Berg is directing.

The project follows a young orphaned girl, Bird Benson (Skyler Samuels), who finds herself caught in The Middle of two families at war - both made up of mercenaries, assassins, and other sorts of murderers. In order to live a normal life, Bird must seek out the help of a mentor in order to defeat her mother (Strickland), and put an end to the fighting once and for all.

Strickland's less-than-nurturing role, Stella Killpriest, is a loose cannon who holds no emotional connection with her duaghter. She comes from an ancient line of murderers and mercenaries, where women are considered objects and essentially worthless. Stella disagreed in her youth, and has become a warrior who's tired of being controlled.

The actress also joins BREAKING BAD's Jonathan Banks for the pilot, who will play Bird's grandfather, Leo Killpreist, the patriarch of the family, who's currently working to build an army to reunite his scattered clan. Killpreist, Bird's former caretaker, abandoned her as an infant.
