It's Official: Charice Joins GLEE Next Season

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Charise will officially join GLEE, as she confirms on her official website, Filipino singer, Charice, will guest star in the second season of Fox's hit show, GLEE. Reports say that the 18 year old will play a foreign exchange student who will be rivals with Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Charice began vocal lessons at the age of 4 and started to compete in local contests three years later. In 2007, videos of Charice's performances on YouTube started to attracted the attention of American TV shows, which led to appearances on Ellen Degeneres and Oprah.

Soon afterwards, Grammy winning producer David Foster invited Charice to perform on his 'David Foster and Friends' PBS Show in Las Vegas alongside Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, and Josh Groban. Charice also went on to perform with Andrea Bocelli ("The Prayer") in Tuscany and Celine Dion at her Madison Square Garden show in New York City.

During Charice's most recent appearance on Oprah Winfrey, her song "Note To God" written by multi-Grammy winning songwriter Diane Warren became an instant Top 10 hit on iTunes. Charice also had a featured role in the recent "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie.

"Glee" ended its first season on June 8th and will re-start begin production later this summer. The second season will begin in September on Tuesdays at 8/7c and later move to Wednesdays in the spring. The series has been given the post-Super Bowl spot on February 6, 2011. A third season has already been ordered.
