This Friday, March 15, OntheBoards.tv-the first online Pay-Per-View film series dedicated to bringing provocative performance art, dance, theater, and music to audiences around the world-is launching a 24-hour PBS-style telethon. I thought the telethon would be a great opportunity to shed light on this progressive platform and new model for audience engagement, and make your readers aware of this unique resource for anyone who's interested in the performing arts.

In 2010, On the Boards, a premier contemporary performing arts theater in Seattle, launched OntheBoards.tv, a recording arm to the organization, and state-of-the-art streaming site that delivers full-length, high quality performance films to viewers TVs, desktops, and mobile device. Beginning with 7 performance works, the streaming service now hosts 60 performances by 57 artists, including works by Young Jean Lee, Bebe Miller Company, Faye Driscoll, Crystal Pite, Radiohole, The Rude Mechs, and Lars Jan, among others. The telethon aims to maintain and update the software of this vital performing arts network.

The Youtube Live-streamed telethon will feature 15 favorites from OntheBaords.tv's growing library of performance films, and will run from Friday, March 15 at 8am PST to Saturday, March 16 at 8am PST.

The telethon roster features films by choreographer, performer, and 2018 McArthur Fellow Okwui Okpokwasili; playwright and director Tina Satter, who recently received critical acclaim for her new play, Is This a Room: Reality Winner...; conceptual dancer and choreographer Ralph Lemon (Bessie Award, Creative Capital Award); dancer, choreographer, and performance artist Faye Driscoll (Bessie Award, USA Fellow, Creative Capital Award); musician, composer, and stand-up comedian Ahamefule Oluo; and Halory Goerger and Antoine Defoort, who will present their acclaimed experimental theater work, Germinal, among others.
