2016 Stanley Cup Final Game 4 Matchup Airs Tonight on NBC

The 2016 Stanley Cup Final continues tonight with a pivotal Game 4 matchup on NBC at 8 p.m. ET, when Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks host Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins from SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. Pittsburgh currently leads the series 2-1, following San Jose's dramatic Game 3 overtime win in the franchise's first-ever Stanley Cup Final home game on Saturday night.

Four-time Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Mike 'Doc' Emrick, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member and analyst Eddie Olczyk, and Emmy Award-winning 'Inside-the-Glass' analyst Pierre McGuire will call tonight's Game 4. This marks the 10th consecutive year that Emrick, Olczyk and McGuire have combined to call the Stanley Cup Final for NBC Sports.

Pre-game coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN with NHL Live, hosted by Kathryn Tappen and Dave Briggs alongside analysts and former players Jeremy Roenick, Anson Carter and Brian Boucher on-set outside of SAP Center. Coverage shifts inside at 7:30 p.m. ET with host Liam McHugh, who will anchor pre-game and intermission coverage alongside analysts and former players Mike Milbury and Keith Jones.

NBC will serve as the broadcast home for all remaining games of the Stanley Cup Final. Game 5 will air Thursday, June 9 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Game 6 and Game 7 will air Sunday, June 12, and Wednesday, June 15, at 8 p.m. ET, respectively, if necessary. STANLEY CUP FINAL CONTINUES TO DELIVER RECORD LOCAL RATINGS IN PITTSBURGH AND SAN JOSE

Following are ratings highlights from the first three games of the 2016 Stanley Cup Final, including local ratings records in Pittsburgh and San Jose.

Game 3 on NBCSN produced a 6.2 rating in San Francisco/San Jose/Oakland, making it the highest-rated Sharks game ever on the networks of NBCUniversal in the market;

Through three Stanley Cup Final Games, Pittsburgh has averaged a 28.2 rating, up vs. 2009 (28.1) and up 14% vs. 2008 (24.7), the last two times Pittsburgh appeared in the Final;

Game 1 on NBC produced a 30.9 rating in Pittsburgh - the highest local rating for any Stanley Cup Final Game 1 on the networks of NBC Universal and the highest-rated Penguins game on NBC in the market since the 2011 Winter Classic (32.0);

Game 3 delivered the most live minutes ever (14.5 million) for an NHL game on NBC Sports Live Extra;

Game 3 on NBCSN produced a 1.9 rating, topping both 2012 Stanley Cup Final games on NBCSN featuring Los Angeles and New Jersey, the last Final without an Original Six Team (NJ/LA Game 3: 1.4, NJ/LA Game 4: 1.7).

STANLEY CUP FINAL GAME 4 - TONIGHT AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBC - PENGUINS LEAD 2-1

The Sharks took Game 3 by a score of 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night to chip away at their 2-0 series deficit, as rookie Joonas Donskoi scored with 7:42 left in the overtime and San Jose won its first-ever Stanley Cup Final game. Pittsburgh held a 2-1 lead heading into the third period, courtesy of goals from Ben Lovejoy and Patric Hornqvist. Sharks veteran forward Joel Ward scored midway through the third period to tie the game and force overtime.

Pittsburgh has outshot the Sharks in all three games of the Stanley Cup Final by a combined 113-74, and has outshot their opponent in 12 consecutive playoff games. Since the 1967 expansion, no team has ever outshot its opponent in 13 straight playoff games. The Sharks have historically dominated the Penguins in San Jose; Pittsburgh has won just one of its last 14 games in San Jose, dating back to the late 1990s. The Sharks are 8-2 at home this postseason.
