Birmingham, Alabama based Wray is a rare band that effortlessly blends intelligent sonic pluralities into a seamless whole without losing any DIY grit. The shoegaze trio revealed their newest single "Pined" with Paste Magazine in anticipation of their upcoming Hypatia LP release this Friday January 15 on Communicating Vessels. The track features singer/bassist David Brown's ghostly vocals set to steady, charging percussion and dark, lurid harmonies. "'Pined' started out very different than how it ended up on the album", Brown said of the track, "The melody was there, but the arrangement was truly refined in the process of recording. That sets it apart from other tracks."

Following the release of singles "May 23" and "Hypatia", which was featured on KEXP's Music That Matters playlist, "Pined" is an additional glimpse into what Hypatia has in store. Having already received accolades from The New York Times, Stereogum, and more, the band is set for an impressive run in the years to come. Additionally, Wray has already kicked off a monumental year being the first rock band to collaborate and perform with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Comprised of lead singer/bass player David Brown, guitarist David Swatzell, and drummer Blake Wimberly, Wray has a shared history that reaches back over a decade in the Birmingham music scene. With a penchant for adventurous music making, the group has come into its creative own on the new record.

Hypatia is co-produced by the band with Lynn Bridges (Jack Oblivian, Devendra Banhart, Dan Sartain), mixed by Daniel Farris (Man or Astroman?, St. Vincent, Azure Ray), and mastered by Paul Logus (Public Enemy, Anthrax). The album will be available on vinyl, cd, and digital formats - complete with brilliantly conceived album art by New Zealand-born/New York-based Tamaryn, and Shaun Durkan, from San Francisco's Weekend - on January 15 with supporting tours. This will be a follow-up work worth boasting about.

Tour Dates:
1/26 - Washington, DC at Black Cat (backstage)
1/27 - New York, NY at Cake Shop
1/28 - Brooklyn, NY at The Gutter
1/29 - Chapel Hill, NC at The Cave
