On Saturday, May 5, Westchester Collaborative Theater's (WCT) Jazz Masters Series presents music legend Sheila Jordan in her only U.S. appearance this spring at the black box performance space, 23 Water St. in Ossining. An internationally acclaimed NEA Jazz Master Fellow, Jordan will make her premier appearance on the WCT stage together with her longtime musical collaborator, bassist Cameron Brown. The pair has released five highly acclaimed albums together. Jordan's music, spanning decades, continents and generations makes her a lineage holder of a truly authentic American art form.

Jordan and Brown will play sets at 7:30 and 9:00 pm. General admission is $25. Cash bar and refreshments available. Purchase seats online at the ticketing website: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3380848 (limited seating available.)

Since its opening last year, the WCT black box performance space has become increasingly known as a venue showcasing WCT plays and readings, as well as live music and a variety of performance artists. For upcoming theater and music events visit http://www.wctheater.org/

About Sheila Jordan
Self-described "jazz child" Sheila Jordan sustains an unencumbered wonder, inquisitiveness and joyful playfulness in a voice that has sung out across the decades and continents. Being one of the few vocalists to record on the legendary Blue Note label (Portrait of Sheila Jordan) during Alfred Lion's tenure, Jordan set the bar high and at her own standard early on. From her Be-Bop roots in the 50s through collaborations and recordings with talents the likes of Lennie Tristano and Steve Kuhn in subsequent decades, to teacher and mentor to upcoming generations of jazz vocalists, Jordan remains an uncompromising original. Her unique style of setting vocal in relief to bass was highlighted in her eighteenth album, I've Grown Accustomed to the Bass, recorded in 2000 with bassist Cameron Brown.
