U2's 14th studio album, Songs of Experience (Interscope), has now become the band's eighth album to hit #1 on the Billboard 200, making U2 the sole group to score #1 albums across four decades: The 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. Songs of Experience's first week sales of nearly 200,000 equivalent albums since its December 1 release represent 2017's biggest first week numbers for a rock band.
Songs of Experience's release was celebrated with a December 2 appearance on Saturday Night Live, featuring the band playing "Get Out Of Your Own Way" and "American Soul."
