As part of their 2018 Winter season, the Playing on Air podcast will release two plays by Pulitzer Prize winners John Patrick Shanley (Doubt) and Donald Margulies (Time Stands Still, Dinner with Friends) starring Golden Globe nominee Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird).

The first, Shanley's Tennessee, will be released online Sunday, January 7th, the day of the Golden Globes. Recorded live at NYPS's Jerome L. Greene Performance Space and also starring Caitlin Fitzgerald ("Masters of Sex," It's Complicated), Tennessee tells the story of a small-town, wannabe musician who seeks an escape plan from the town's resident psychic. The recording is also directed by John Patrick Shanley.

Later in the season, in February, Playing on Air will release Misadventure by Donald Margulies. The two-hander drama pairs Chalamet with actor and playwright Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick, writer of LCT3's After the Blast), as a screw-up brother and his frustrated sister.

"Hearing young actors like Timothée, Caitlin and Zoe tackle work by these major playwrights is a thrill," said Claudia Catania, founder and Artistic Director of Playing on Air. "They're finding that spot between theater and film where the audio component reigns supreme. It's hard to beat."

Playing on Air is a podcast and radio show dedicated to short plays by America's best contemporary playwrights - a new way to experience theater on demand. Recorded in New York, each podcast episode features a short play, plus candid interviews with playwrights, directors, and actors, providing a behind-the-scenes listen into the artists' work and the businesses of theater and film.

Slated for Playing on Air's upcoming episodes are Gun Show, a new commission by David Auburn (Proof) starring Bobby Cannavale, Eisa Davis, David Furr, and Martha Plimpton, and plays by Rachel Bonds, David Ives, Lloyd Suh, Alan Zweibel, and Cassandra Medley. The season will also include Shanley's Last Night in the Garden I Saw You, a romantic comedy starring Oscar and Tony nominee Michelle Williams and Rupert Friend ("Homeland," Pride & Prejudice).
