The Recording Academy today released the following statement on Larry Butler:

"Two-time GRAMMY®-winning country music producer/songwriter Larry Butler began his career as a Nashville session player for such artists as Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton.

"His musicianship and skills led him to producing and songwriting, working with Kenny Rogers on many albums, and garnering the prestigious GRAMMY Award for Producer Of The Year in 1979. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, fans and all who were fortunate enough to work with him throughout his dynamic career."
