Terry Pazmiño, Ecuadorian Guitarist To Join The MAC on November 10 & 11

Terry Pazmiño, a Classic concertist born in Quito, Ecuador, will offer a performance at Milford Arts Council, the MAC on November 10th at 8pm and a Master Class on November 11th at 2pm. The Saturday performance will include music of Latin American, works by Barrios, Lauro, Sagreras, Pazmiño, Piazzolla & Traditional Music of Ecuador. Pazmiño belongs to a generation of composers and virtuosos who demystified the European influences and rediscovered popular music from Latin America.

The work of Pazmiño is the result of a constant search of his roots, enriched with frequent tours around the world. In his youth, he dominated the forms of the Ecuadorian popular music, such as; sanjuanito, pasillo, capishca, tonada, yumbo and raymi. Pazmiño traveled to Venezuela and France to study with three masters of the instrument: Antonio Lauro, Alirio Diaz and Alberto Ponce. For nine years he lived and studied in Sydney, Australia, where he achieved a Masters Honors degree from the university of Western Sydney.

Pazmiño has built a singular repertoire based on the urban popular music, capturing the magical realism of South American and Ecuadorian Folk music. He has offered recitals and concerts in the greatest rooms of 42 countries, including the Sydney Opera House of Australia, Carnegie Hall of New York, Purcell Room of London, sharing a work that gives power, originality, simplicity, all from one guitar. The critics say "... as in music everything has been told, Terry re-tells the same stories, but in a different way. "

From his extensive musical production, several pieces deserve special distinction: the composition "Cantata to November 15th of 1922", Booklet "20 harmonizations of Ecuadorian music for guitar", 15 books of "Ecuadorian music for duets, trios and guitar soloists", the "Treasures of Music" collection, "Songs for a New World", and "Concert of the Andes". He wrote 10 books of Ecuadorian Ancestral music for duets, trios and guitar solo, and 8 CD's collection of Baroque music, Latin America, Ecuadorian music and his own compositions. These have become the most faithful testimony of his work.

This concert is the first in a series produced by New England Guitar Society, a division of Milford Arts Council. It was established to create a nurturing environment for classical guitarists to meet, share ideas, perform, compose, teach and grow as musicians. The goal is to increase the public interest in classical guitar, to ultimately create future players and audiences.
